The coastline worldwide has undergone significant changes, including land loss or retreat and sediment accumulation. Coastal erosion, defined as the sea encroaching on land or the retreat of the coastline with loss of beaches and ecosystems, impacts human activities, well-being, economy, and natural event mitigation. This document is divided into two sections: conceptual and methodological. The conceptual section explores sediment transport and coastal erosion, Colombia's coastal erosion situation, economic aspects, and the integration of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) for effective governance. The methodological section outlines a detailed, iterative, and adaptive process for addressing coastal erosion through a project lifecycle approach, allowing coastal management to start at the appropriate stage based on current management status. Annexes provide tables and figures with detailed information on the discussed aspects.
