The objective of this assessment was to explore potential sites for nature-based solutions, in the form coral reef restoration in particular, to reduce coastal flood risk. The report provides a quick-scan analysis for the three main islands of Seychelles identifying candidate sites which have a high potential for the reduction of wave runup through coral reef restoration.
This guidance presents five principles and implementation guidance for planning, such as evaluation, design, and implementation of nature-based solutions for flood risk management as an alternative to or complementary to conventional engineering measures.
This guidance note provides review and recommendations for how the protective services of mangroves and coral reefs can be measured and valued in a manner consistent with national economic accounts and included in other decision-making processes to support planning for development, disaster risk, and coastal zone management.
This presentation describes a set of Nature-based Solutions (NBS) that can protect, restore, and manage coastal ecosystems to safeguard communities, and to enhance development project performance. It also discusses the challenges and limitations of these solutions.
Developing countries and their partners (including multilateral development banks and bilateral agencies) are increasingly utilizing NBS in DRM, as well as in water security, urban sustainability, and other development projects. This report showcases the growing number of NBS projects and offers lessons and insights to help mainstream NBS into development decision making.
