Embracing Nature to Strengthen Climate Resilience

In many vulnerable regions, harnessing the power of nature is a promising and cost-effective strategy to strengthen climate resilience while fostering shared social and economic prosperity. The World Bank is scaling up the integration of nature-based solutions to climate challenges to help countries build resilience.  Check out our projects below, or see our knowledge hub for helpful resources.

What are Nature-based Solutions?

Nature-based solutions (NBS) are effective and adaptive interventions to protect, manage, and/or restore natural or modified systems, including coastlines, cities, watersheds, and rivers. NBS can address multiple sustainable development goals, such as climate and disaster-risk resilience; economic and social prosperity; water security; and health and food security in a cost-effective manner.
