The objective of the Forests for Prosperity Project for Nepal is to improve sustainable forest management; increase benefits from forests and contribute to net Greenhouse Gas Emission (GHG) reductions in selected municipalities in Province 2 and Province 5 in Nepal. The Project has four components. 1.
The objective of the Decentralized Forest and Woodland Management Project for Burkina Faso was to promote national development policies and support the definition and implementation of community-based natural resource management processes in thirty-two, mostly rural, communes, to strengthen sustainable local development practices and contribute to reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from deforestation and woodland degradation.
The Resilient Landscapes and Livelihoods Project of Ethiopia has the objectives to improve climate resilience, land productivity and carbon storage, and increase access to diversified livelihood activities in selected rural watersheds. This project is comprised of four components: (1) Green infrastructure and resilient livelihoods component will support the restoration of degraded landscapes in selected watersheds and help build resilient livelihoods on this newly productive foundation.
The development objective of the Flood Management Project for Ethiopia is to strengthen Ethiopia’s institutional capacity for disaster risk management (DRM), and flood risk management in selected basins. The project comprises of four components. The first component, strengthening institutional and coordination capacity for disaster risk management aims to improve the Government of Ethiopia (GoE) DRM by strengthening the institutional capacity of federal-level agencies (including priority sectors) and the coordination between federal and decentralized levels of the government.
The development objective of the proposed operation is to strengthen the Government of Seychelles Disaster Risk Management policy and reform agenda and enhance its capacity to efficiently respond to disasters. The project provided technical assistance to strengthen the government's capacity for strategic planning and implementation of
coastal management projects, including NBS for coastal resilience.
The Project Development Objective is to improve protected areas management, and to promote ecotourism
opportunities and non-timber forest product value chains in the Cardamom Mountains-Tonle Sap landscape. The project aims to sustain and increase forest cover which will reduce soil erosion, maintain or improve water quality for downstream users, provide protection to farms and villages located in floodprone areas, reduce GHG emissions, and protect critical natural habitats.
The objective of the Local Forest Communities Support Project was to strengthen the capacity of targeted local communities in Burkina Faso to participate in REDD+ programs at local, national, and global levels. The project supported training in leadership, conflict resolution, and capacity-building for customary land tenure and traditional forest management systems. Sub-grants facilitated activities to improve livelihoods and supported reforestation efforts, contributing to the restoration or reforestation of 34,000 hectares of forest.
The project used farmer-led natural regeneration, which is mostly to create food forests, but also improve forest cover to reduce water runoff and maximizing rain infiltration (and protection from wind).
As part of the village preparedness program, the project will support communities in developing a mitigation and preparedness action plan that include nature-based measures.
The project worked to fund community-led development projects, and build capacity for improved land management practices.
