The project objectives are to enhance tools for climate-smart planning and improve climate resilience of land and water management practices in selected provinces of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. The Government of Vietnam intends to achieve these objectives through: i) the provision of capital investments especially in water management infrastructures, including green infrastructure; ii) technical assistance related to agricultural and aquaculture livelihoods; and iii) capacity building for farmers in selected Mekong Delta provinces and government institutions at national and sub-national levels. The project is using mangrove belts and dikes to prevent flooding, and promoting transitions to mangrove-shrimp aquaculture to minimize effects of agricultural activites on mangrove ecosystems. The project beneficiaries include aquaculture farmers and fisher folk households whose livelihoods are affected by climate change, salinity intrusion, coastal erosion, and flooding.
