Forest Sector Modernization and Coastal Resilience Enhancement

The project development objective is to improve coastal forest management in the project provinces. The project includes elements on (a) using approaches to enhance spatial planning of coastal forests; (b) arrangements for effectively managing the resource base; (c) adoption of silvicultural measures for planting, tending, and managing a healthy forest that can buffer against weather events; and (d) providing incentives to local households, communities, enterprises, and the Government to maintain and protect the resource base. More specifically, the project is restoring coastal forests in Vietnam to reduce coastal risks, and provide livelihood opportunities, while also developing payment for ecosystem services (PES) and other enabling foundations such as seed quality improval and coastal planning.
