The objective of this pilot-scale project is to 1) to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Housing and Environment and local councils in planning and demonstration of community based wetland management, and 2) to implement a coral reef monitoring system. The Government of the Maldives will achieve this through the components Wetland Conservation and Water Resources Management, Coral Reef Monitoring and supporting project management, financed under the multi-donor Climate Change Trust Fund.

The grant supports Panama City in developing a concept plan for urban and coastal resilience, articulating a comprehensive strategy of public investments and infrastructure financing, aiming to strengthen urban resilience.

The project objectives are to enhance tools for climate-smart planning and improve climate resilience of land and water management practices in selected provinces of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam.

The objective of the project designed by the Government of Belize was to implement priority ecosystem-based marine conservation and climate adaptation measures to strengthen the climate resilience of the Belize Barrier Reef System.

Combined, the engineered and nature-based measures (mangroves) have protected 1.37 kilometers of coastline (above the baseline) for a total of 1.87 kilometers28, exceeding both the revised PDO-level target of 1.2 kilometers and the original target of 1.6 kilometers. Community-based mangrove management plans have been prepared and adopted under the village development committees and are being implemented to ensure the sustainability of the coastal protection measures on the outer islands. The Government of Jamaica has requested financing the Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project with the objective to enhance Jamaica’s resilience to disaster and climate risk. The proposed project will finance four components: 1) technical assistance for improved disaster and climate resilience, including ecosystem-based analyses; 2) risk reduction through structural mitigation measures such as retrofitting or construction of key assets; 3) contingent emergency response; and 4) project management.

The project was comprehensive, using insitutional capacity building and awareness raising of SLM for DRM, using community-based activities to restore and sustainably manage areas such as the restoration of natural waterways, reforestation of hillsides and watersheds and bush fire control (Savanna, Maritime and Kara regions). Community-Based activities in Cropland and Grazing Land included SLM best practices will be piloted and promoted in targeted areas.

The project objective was to strengthen institutional capacity of targeted institutions to manage the risk of flooding and land degradation in targeted rural and urban areas. The Government of Togo aimed to achieve objective through 1) community-based activities in watershed and flood-prone areas; 2) community-based activities in cropland and grazing lands; 3) community-based sustainable forest and wetland management; as well as 4) early warning, monitoring and knowledge systems and 5) institutional strengthening and awareness raising.

The objective of the project implemented by the Government of Morocco is to pilot the application of an integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) approach on its eastern Mediterranean coast. ICZM implemented at local level by all users of the coastal resources will leverage rural pollution reduction and protection of biodiversity and ecologically sensitive areas. The project used non-structural and structural interventions, such as training on ecosystem-based co-management, wetlands and dune restoration, and the creation of an artificial reef.
