The Balochistan Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and Development Project aims to strengthen provincial capacity for water resources monitoring and management and improve community-based water management for targeted irrigation schemes in Balochistan. Key activities include watershed and rangeland management through conservation measures, tree planting, flood protection infrastructure, and the establishment of multi-agency river basin information systems for improved planning.

The Niger Integrated Water Security Platform Project aims to strengthen water resources management, increase access to water services, and improve resilience to climate-induced water variability in select areas of Niger. The project supports watershed restoration activities, including reforestation, land restoration, and agroforestry, while also expanding rural water supply, sanitation, and public sanitation infrastructure. Key components focus on integrated investments, institutional capacity building, and enabling flexible disaster response mechanisms.

The Shire River Basin Management Program (Phase-I) Project aims to develop a planning framework to improve land and water management for ecosystem and livelihood benefits in target areas. The project includes Shire Basin planning, catchment management to reduce erosion and improve livelihoods, and water-related infrastructure investments to regulate Shire flows and enhance climate resilience. These efforts support disaster risk management through watershed rehabilitation and improved management.

The Malawi Floods Emergency Recovery Project aims to sustainably restore agricultural livelihoods, reconstruct critical public infrastructure to improved standards in the flood-affected districts, and improve the Government of Malawi’s disaster response and recovery capacities. The project includes components for livelihoods restoration, infrastructure rehabilitation, disaster resilience promotion, and program management.

The Shire Valley Transformation Program aims to increase agricultural productivity and commercialization for targeted households in the Shire Valley and to improve the sustainable management and utilization of natural resources. The project development objectives (PDO) are to provide access to reliable gravity-fed irrigation and drainage services, secure land tenure for smallholder farmers, and strengthen management of wetlands and protected areas. Additionally, the project will develop and improve wetland management.

The project will support watershed management planning and watershed restoration to reduce risk of landslide and floods.

The project finances nature-based solutions to revitalize selected protected areas of ecological significance to the Western Balkans. Also include includes forestry management in Vrbanja, Vrbas, and the Sava River Basin, which will mitigate the threat of drought.

The project has been restructured to include nature-based solutions, which aligns with their NDC ambitions. They will use NBS relating to forests, conservation, and other to meet PDO. The work will be implemented by the National Disaster Risk Management Fund. It will also have community resilience component.

The project used the restoration of vegetative cover and sustainable management of watersheds to reduce erosion and disaster risks.

The project financed a cash-for-trees program which part of an erosion prevention activity that provided incentives for smallholders to reforest their lands in the watersheds surrounding the irrigated areas.
