The Government of Kenya's efforts to make water supply and sanitation for the public and energy industry in its coastal counties Mombasa and Kwale more resilient have given rise to the World Bank-funded Coastal Region Water Security and Climate Resilience Project. The objective of the project is to sustainably increase bulk water supply to Mombasa County and Kwale County, and increase access to water and sanitation in Kwale County.

The objectives of the project implemented by the Government of Bangladesh are to: (a) increase the area protected in selected polders from tidal flooding and frequent storm surges; (b) improve agricultural production by reducing saline water intrusion; and (c) improve the Government’s capacity to respond promptly and effectively to crisis or emergency. These objectives will be achieved by strengthening and upgrading embankments as part of an integrated approach to improve the polder system in the coastal area.

The project increased the afforested/reforested areas through participatory forestry and co-management approach in the degraded forestland, marginal, fallow and newly accreted land in coastal and hilly areas. This included the use of mangroves and other species. The project also used alternative livelihoods and capacity building to support the work.

The project focuses mostly on the use of terracing and protection of natural areas to reduce land degradation and provision associated benefits, such as flood risk reduction, erion control.

The project worked to fund community-led development projects, and build capacity for improved land management practices.

The objectives of the Andhra Pradesh Disaster Recovery Project are to restore, improve, and enhance resilience of public services, environmental facilities, and livelihoods in targeted communities in the State of Andra Pradesh, India. To this end, the Government of India, the State of Andhra Pradesh and the World Bank have designed an integrated project with seven components that includes restoring mangroves to improve coastal resilience, which act as a "shelter belt", and beachfront restoration.

The project's objective is to improve the livelihoods of rural households and the sustainability of natural resources in the program area. The project is part of the wider landscape management program, which will aim to integrate rural households into sustainable agriculture and forest-based value chains in the provinces of Nampula and Zambezia.

The Government of Nicaragua, with support from the World Bank, is addressing the climate resilience of its coasts and inland water and land resources in the project Adaptation of Water Supplies to Climate Change. The project’s objective is to pilot water resources protection and drinking water supply systems with an integrated and participatory approach in selected climate vulnerable communities in Nicaragua.

The project aims to increase access to improved irrigation services and agricultural inputs, and strengthen the integrated management of natural resources in the Selected Landscapes by the local actors and, to provide immediate and effectiveresponse to an Eligible Crisis or Emergency. This includes financing key conservation and protected areas in selected forest landscapes.
